Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Sighting.ai, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Description of Service

Sighting.ai analyses text, documents, web pages, images and video. Text and documents are assessed for AI-generated content. Images and video are assessed primarily on provenance — a signed file can be settled outright, and an unsigned one gets an evidence report rather than a verdict. Code is different and deliberately so: the code lane reports measurements about a file and never asserts who or what wrote it, because no method we would be willing to ship separates AI-written code from human-written code reliably. Results are probabilistic assessments and must not be used as the sole basis for consequential decisions, particularly decisions about a person.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) use the service for illegal purposes; (b) attempt to circumvent rate limits or security measures; (c) reverse engineer the detection algorithms; (d) submit content that violates third-party rights; (e) use the service to harass or discriminate against individuals.

5. Content and Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you submit for analysis. We do not claim ownership of your content. Our platform, algorithms, and branding are our intellectual property.

Images and video are uploaded directly to private storage so we can read them server-side, and the uploaded file is deleted as soon as the analysis finishes, whether it succeeded or failed. We keep the report, not your file. A report records a SHA-256 digest of the exact bytes analysed — that is what lets you prove later that a given report describes a given file — but a digest cannot be turned back into the content it came from. You must have the right to upload what you submit; do not upload other people's private material.

6. Limitation of Liability

Sighting.ai provides detection results on an "as-is" basis. We are not liable for decisions made based on our analysis results. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months.

7. Subscription and Billing

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually as selected. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

8. API Usage

API access is subject to rate limits defined by your plan. Automated usage must comply with our API terms. We reserve the right to throttle or suspend access for abuse.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms. You may close your account at any time by emailing privacy@sighting.ai from your account address — self-serve deletion is not built yet, and we would rather say so here than offer a button that does nothing. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.

10. Contact
